As far as traditional courting is concerned, Filipina expected to play hard to get (pakipot) when court because that is the norm and seen as an appropriate behavior in a courtship . It is also one way by which the Filipina will be able to measure the sincerity of her admirer. No matter how much she likes the man..she has to show disinterest because girl believe a gentleman will value them more if they are made to work hard.
Courting a filipina gives very big importance on the value of respecting a woman and her family. In the Philippines, it is important to meet a woman’s family because the family is so important to her. A gentleman must ask the permission of the girls father whether he can visit them in their house.
When the approval is obtained, a gentleman will visit the latter's family and intoduce himself formally to the parents of the girl...In first visit the couple will not be left alone on thier own to get to know each other...
Next stage of courting will follow---"servitude"-man will serve the girls family in any way that he can do to show his sincerity and love for her..."Harana"..singing love songs outside the girls house by the window with the guitar..gentleman will sing and wait until the lady opens the window and invites him into the house..
BUT..these day modern courtship revolves more on the liberalism..these days we are able to mingle in public...
Youngsters, modern and liberal minded prefers to meet up somewhere else instead of courting inside house..modern courtship have no pattern..a group date, set a couple up by friends..talking alone.,online dating...and before u know..they are going out on date..
Modern courtship are very fast..they refused thier suitors if they do not really want, not hesitate to tell the suitors the fact..altough it doesn't necessarily have the emotional baggage attached. Girls decisive on thier choices..these days it is enough to show up in girl house and bond with host family..No servitude or singing lovesongs at night..just visit them regularly showing that you are worthy enough for her love...
Whether it is traditional or modern courtship..it is important to show your sincerity . respect and love for her....introduce yourself formally and impress the girls family in any way..
In Philippines, marriage is special and sacred....
There is no divorce in the Philippines. Filipino couples have only three ways to change the status of their marriage.."Legal separation" allows spouses to live separately but they may not remarry."Declaration of nullity" presupposes that the marriage is void from the beginning and the court declares its non-existence. "Annulment "legally cancels the marriage and both spouses are restored to their single status..
This Courting is also very common in Latin America and some parts of the Caribbean.
